CBOSSussd USSD Messaging Center

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a GSM service that enables high-speed interactive communication between subscribers and applications.

The USSD server allows cellular operators to expand their range of services, increase data transmission rates and optimize resource usage.

SYSTEM OPERATION

A USSD session can be initiated by:

  • Customers – a subscriber sends a request to start a USSD session The application generates a response and sends it back to the customer
  • Applications – a USSD application generates a message and sends it to the customer via the USSD server

USSD is a session-oriented technology where data exchange is performed within a single session, making USSD similar to IVR. The crucial difference is that a USSD session does not engage voice channels between the application and the subscriber’s handset.

CBOSSussd fully supports GSM USSD Phase I & II and includes all the standard USSD features. The system is built around CBOSSasap Advanced Architecture for Service and Application Provisioning, allowing the use of voice applications without any modifications.

KEY FEATURES
  • Interactive queries
  • Automatic notifications
  • Service order/cancellation
  • WAP-like features
INTEGRATION

The charging of USSD services requires integration with billing systems, such as CBOSSbcc, CBOSSprepaid, or CBOSSrtb CBOSSussd also integrates with various intelligent services providing them with interactive USSD channels.

For example, the integration with CBOSSprepaid Intelligent Prepaid System and CBOSScallBack allows CallBack-based roaming. To order a call, a subscriber sends a USSD command containing the CBOSScallBack code and the destination number. If the incoming call is allowed by the CBOSSprepaid server, the CallBack server establishes two standard connections: one with the caller and another one with the called party thus preventing subscriber debt even in case of prepaid roaming.

In addition, USSD may be used as a means of transport for the SIM Application Toolkit (S@T), powering a SIM card with multi-level dynamic menus for various value-added services. As a result, CBOSSussd provides customers with intuitive access to any service independent of the service provider or handset capabilities.

CBOSSussd also integrates with third-party applications via SMPP
